As I am watching more of his work, I am understanding spirituality and this 'मायामय संसार' much deeper. Understanding is a wrong word, perhaps "feeling" is better.
I have long felt that 'perception' is the pervasive force which influences our analysis, our assumptions. We 'see' what our culture conditions us to 'see'.
And to understand human psychology, it is best to watch videos of the animal kingdom. It is amazing how continual evolution is.
I am also pained that as human beings, not only are we destroying our own culture (the indigenous peoples of the world are termed illiterate and left out of the share of humanity's progress, it is like we left them behind, pushed them off their share of resources, forced ourselves to transform to comply), we are also destroying the culture of animals & birds. Their habitat is lost, they are forced to adapt to the cruel changes.
But it is very touching that there are a lot of people, animal lovers, people who have self-respect and dignity, they spend their time helping others... For tiny hummingbirds that migrate from N.America to S.America, a farmer whose lands lie on the migration belt supplies them with gallons of nectar every season, that nectar would be the choice between life & death for the tiny starved thirsty being.
Purple martins are welcomed in a Canadian town with man-made roosts erected for them, it is an ancient native american habit which is continued to this day.
I am serious when I say that all those angry people of the world should be made to watch David Attenborough's documentaries, they will fall in love with the animals, fall in love with themselves, and that will heal all the anger that the world has today.. Human beings are not able to reconcile their cultures with one another, if they watch the animal kingdom, they will find it easier to accept that we should all be able to co-exist peacefully.
I find Mr.Attenborough very enthusiastic, very good at dealing with all kinds of animals/birds/insects, he knows how to call a woodpecker, how to play with an orangutan, scubadiving after sea otters, paragliding with vultures, swimming with fish, rock climbing with the hyrax, peering into every bird's nest, spending time in Antarctica, o God, wherever there is life, Mr.Attenborough seems to have explored, studied, filmed it!
I love Sir David Attenborough!!! He is equivalent to the Maharshis & Mahatmas mentioned in our literature, for he who has mastered communication with different species, overcoming the communication barrier, he surely understands God!
My perception is not limited to my human head, it is expanded from seeing what the vulture feels, what the hummingbird feels!
In the quest to control our ego, it stirs much humility in my heart to see these small birds and animals. Watching them fight for territory, defend their brood, forage for nourishment, compete for mates, we laugh at their ego, wonder why they can't make peace and live together. Then I wonder, aren't we humans the same? Aren't we as insignificant? Once upon a time the dinosaurs ruled the world. Mankind's footprint is miniscule in the timeline of evolution. Yet, we have so many feelings about our wants. Watching animals really helps me smile at myself and calm down, it makes me feels so much more encouraged & revitalized, because my life seems to be so much less risky compared to them.
